We have been having substorms today and there is currently a substorm. Aurora likely too be seen as soon as it gets dark if current conditions hold.

Other factors:

Dark enough after 17:00 - strong 93% moon will be good for foreground photos but will inhibit seeing the milky way and weak aurora. Possible Icy roads tonight so drive safely.
